On June 4, 2017, the Keo Pagoda Buddhist Youth Club, the Vu Thu District Red
Cross Society, and the Sen Hong Volunteer Youth Club successfully organized the
"Second Voluntary Blood Donation" festival. The event continues to be
a clear demonstration of the spirit of kindness, compassion, joy, and
equanimity of Buddhists.
Attending and accompanying the program were Pham Cong Dien, District Party
Committee member, vice chairman of the District People's Committee; Luu Huyen
Duc, vice chairman of the District People's Committee; Tran Duc Toan, District
Party Committee member, secretary of the District Youth Union of Vu Thu
District; Ngo Xuan Thao, chairman of the Red Cross Society of Vu Thu District;
Master, Doctor Mai Van Tu, head of the Department of Hematology and Blood of
Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital, along with more than one hundred
volunteers with kind hearts, donating blood to save lives.
The second "Humanitarian Blood Donation" festival is an activity
with profound meaning, held at Keo Pagoda, Thai Binh. Following the success of
the first "Voluntary Blood Donation" program, organized as part of
the 2017 Spring Welcome event, this festival carried the theme "Saving a
life is as good as the Ganges River, a drop of blood given away brings so much
love." It continued to attract many Buddhist followers, local residents, Youth
Union members, and volunteers from various places.
By the end of the festival, the program recorded nearly 200 blood donations. The success of the second "Voluntary Blood Donation" festival not only helped address the serious blood shortage in blood banks but also exemplified the noble humanitarian spirit of people helping people. The act of donating blood on this meaningful occasion has truly become a thread of sharing, connecting, and spreading love to everyone.
