CIRCULAR
Regarding Relief Fundraising for Flood-Affected People in Central Provinces

To:

  • Central Committee for Charity and Social Work, VBS;

  • Committees for Charity and Social Work, VBS branches in provinces and cities.

Through public media, it has been reported that Typhoons No. 6 and No. 7 have caused significant flooding in the Central provinces, resulting in severe loss of lives, property, and crops. These natural disasters have left residents in affected areas facing numerous challenges, especially shortages of food and essential goods.

In the spirit of Buddhist compassion and the tradition of mutual support inherent in our nation, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee calls upon the Central Charity and Social Work Committees, as well as provincial and city-level committees, to mobilize monks, nuns, lay followers, and benefactors to contribute funds, goods, and supplies to aid those affected by the floods. This support will help communities recover from the disaster and stabilize their lives promptly.

Committees may organize relief missions to affected areas or send donations through the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF), or the provincial and city-level VFF. At each relief site, we encourage coordination with the VBS branch committees in the respective provinces for assistance.

In certain areas where transportation routes have been heavily damaged by floodwaters, making travel challenging, committees are advised to conduct relief efforts efficiently, effectively, and with a focus on immediate needs.

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee expresses its condolences for the suffering and loss experienced by the people and Buddhist followers in the flood-stricken regions. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in this calamity.
