In the chilly weather of the final winter days of 2019, a vehicle carrying new clothes, warm blankets, and the heartfelt love of compassionate individuals journeyed hundreds of kilometers over many hours to reach Co Sung and Cham Chay preschools, part of Dong Sang Kindergarten, Moc Chau District, Son La Province, right at the dawn of the New Year 2020.
Dong Sang Commune is home to many ethnic minority communities living in secluded villages hidden amidst peach and plum orchards, rugged mountains, and deep valleys. Life here is challenging and impoverished, especially for children who are in great need of access to education. At the two schools in Co Sung and Cham Chay, there are 202 students, all of whom belong to the Hmong ethnic group.
With the desire to help the children here have stronger faith in education and a brighter, happier life, the charity team donated various items to the schools and students at the two points, Co Sung and Cham Chay. These included 202 new jackets, 200 personal pillows, 15 new mattresses, and many essential supplies and food items. Additionally, the charity team visited and gave gifts to four families in difficult circumstances in the commune, with each family receiving 25 kilos of rice, a box of milk, a box of instant noodles, a box of biscuits, and 300,000 VND in cash. The total cost of this charity mission amounted to 77,350,000 VND.
Although the gifts may not be large, they represent the heartfelt contributions from the monks, Buddhists of Tổ Đình Chùa Keo, as well as philanthropists and benefactors, sent to the children in Đông Sang. It is hoped that this winter, the children will feel warmer, not only in terms of material support but also from the warmth of human kindness, and that they will celebrate the new year joyfully with their families.
