Venerable Elder Most Thich Thien Nhon pays homage to the enlightened spirit (Giác linh) of Venerable Elder Most Thich Thanh Duc.
The delegation was led by Venerable Elder Most Thich Thien Nhon, Vice Supreme Patriarch of the Council for Certification and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN). Accompanying him were Venerable Elder Most Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Member of the Council for Certification and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, along with senior dignitaries from both the Council for Certification and the Executive Council of the GHPGVN.
Before the portrait of the Venerable
Elder Most Thich Thanh Duc, the Sangha leaders solemnly paid homage, offered
incense in remembrance of his enlightened spirit (Giác linh), and extended
their condolences to his disciples and Dharma family.
On the same day, delegations of venerable members from the GHPGVN Executive Committees of various provinces and cities, leaders of central boards and institutes, as well as representatives of agencies and organizations, also came to pay their respects to the enlightened spirit of the newly deceased Venerable Elder Most Thich Thanh Duc.

Also this morning, a delegation from
the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai
Trung, and a delegation from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs,
headed by Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nga, Deputy Head of the Committee, came to pay homage
and offer incense to the enlightened spirit (Giác linh) of Venerable Elder Most
Thich Thanh Duc, and to sign the condolence book, extending sympathies to the
Sangha and his disciples and Dharma family.
According to Giac Ngo Online,
due to advanced age and seniority, Venerable Elder Most Thich Thanh Duc passed
away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 100, with 70 vassa years.
The visitation ceremony began at 10:30 a.m. the same day at Thanh Long
Pagoda.
The memorial service (lễ truy niệm) will be held on the morning of April
21, 2026, after which the coffin will be respectfully enshrined in a stupa at Doai
Lam Pagoda.
